Frederick

Patricia “Pat” Ann Andochick (Kraina), 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, just shy of one month of the passing of her husband of 68 years, Edward Stephen Andochick, DDS.

Pat, affectionately known as “Mimi” to her loving grandchildren, was born the oldest of two daughters, to Josephine Higginbotham (Helmick) and Edward Kraina on October 26,1934 in Weirton, WV. Throughout her life, as she supported her husband, Dr. Ed Andochick, while raising their four children, she competed in community golf and tennis events, supporting multiple social clubs, and restoring their beautiful home and gardens in Frederick, MD near Hood College.

Growing up in Weirton, WV, she attended Weir High School, competing in women’s basketball and volleyball and graduated in 1952 as a member of the National Honor Society. It was here, as a cheerleader, she met the love of her life, Ed, and would marry him three years later in 1955. She attended the Wheeling University School of Nursing and upon graduation, worked as a nurse supporting her new husband through dental school and raising their three young children, Scott, Lori, and Todd. After Ed’s graduation, her family relocated to Frederick, MD in 1962. It was here that their fourth child, Beth, was born. She was a loving mother who built a strong desire to excel within each of her children while enthusiastically supporting their sports, academic, and professional ambitions.

Pat was a woman of many passions and interests. She thoroughly enjoyed watching sports and competing in community tennis matches and golfing at Holly Hills Country Club with her family and friends. Later, after their children had grown, she and Ed spent over 30 years at their winter vacation home in Harbour Ridge, FL where they were members of the Harbour Ridge Country Club. She was known for her beautiful floral arrangements, winning numerous statewide awards.

Beyond her family, her next passion was in restoring their Frederick home near Hood College. Her efforts resulted in the publication of a feature article about their home in the Christmas edition of The Frederick Magazine. She loved decorating for the holidays and welcoming residents from all over Frederick. Their beautiful home was featured in the city’s Candlelight House Tour more than once.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Pat was was a member of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Holly Hills Country Club, Harbour Ridge Country Club, and St. John’s Catholic Church. In Florida she attended the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
