Patricia Ann Lozinski, 77, of Centreville, Virginia, passed away suddenly Friday, January 3, 2020 at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax VA. after a short illness.
Pat was born September 19, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of John and Stella (Zechowicz) Kowalczyk. Her family moved from Brooklyn to Williston Park, New York in 1952. She spent her childhood growing up on Long Island.
Pat was a 1960 graduate of Mineola High School, Long Island New York. She worked as a secretary at Narda Microwave Corp. and enrolled at Hofstra University taking classes to earn a Bachelor degree in Education. She met the love of her life in 1965 when her girlfriend convinced her to go on a blind date with an engineer working for Grumman Aircraft. Their relationship developed and on Valentine’s day 1967 Dave proposed. Pat accepted immediately without hesitation or conditions, and took charge of planning and organizing their wedding. They were married on Labor Day weekend, September 2, 1967, at Saint Aidan’s Roman Catholic Church, Williston Park NY. They lived with Pat’s parents until July when Dave transferred to Goddard Spaceflight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt MD. Pat gave up her pursuit of her Bachelor’s Degree when they moved to Maryland. There she took a job as a secretary and key punch operator supporting Grumman’s software development team at GSFC. In December 1968, they bought their first house together in a Levitt development, Bowie MD.
Pat continued to work until December 1972 when she bore her first son, David Michael Lozinski. After his birth they decided it was best that she quit work and stay home to raise David. She bore a second son Steven Sean Lozinski, on November 30, 1975. She took charge and raised both sons while Dave pursued a career in Aerospace Engineering. Pat decided to resume her pursuit of a college degree and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park MD with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
