Patricia Horning

Patricia Ann Horning, 66, of Boonsboro, Maryland passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at her home.

Born in Cumberland, Maryland on July 6, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Betty (Valentine) Stottlemyer.

She was a graduate of Fort Hill High School and Hagerstown Community College. While attending Fort Hill High School, she was a member of the Sentinelette Drill Team. Pat earned her associates degree in general studies from HCC and later received her travel agent certification.

She was a tour guide for Richard's World of Travel. Pat loved traveling; she traveled to all 50 states. Disney World was one of her favorites. She had traveled to Disney World eight times. She had also been on 18 different cruises around the world.

Pat worked for the Maryland District Court for 30 years. For the last eight years, Pat was very active in her retirement. This allowed her to spend even more time with her children and grandchildren whom she considered the center of her life! For the past 21 years, she loved being called "Nanny."

Since 1980, she was a proud member of the Trinity Reform United Church of Christ in Boonsboro. She was also a member of TOPS, the Red Hat Society and the Christian Women's Club.

Pat really loved to dance. She met her husband at a dance party and from there, they were dance partners for 52 years. This past October, Pat and her husband danced on the ship after the renewal of their wedding vows.

She volunteered for the Boonsboro Band Boosters. She was a Cub Scout den leader for Pack 20 and was also the treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 20 and a merit badge counselor. She was very proud to help her two sons and two grandsons become Eagle Scouts.

Pat is survived by her loving spouse of 48 years, Donald "Ken" Horning; sons, Scott and wife Brenda of Smithsburg, Maryland and Steve and wife Andrea of Annapolis, Maryland; five grandchildren, Greg, Tim, Emma, Andy and Lily; she is also survived by many other loving family members and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, beginning at 10:00 am at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the funeral. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown, Maryland.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. and from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
