Patricia Groff

May 16, 1930 — April 5, 2021

On Monday, April 5, 2021, Patricia Irene Groff passed away at age 90. Pat was born in Sharon, PA on May 16, 1930 to Paul S, Ferry and Evelyn B. (Zeiders) Ferry.

Pat was predeceased by her husband William M. Groff, (June, 2002), who she married on May 23, 1953.

She is survived by her brother Paul S. Ferry Jr. and wife Patsy, son William M. Groff Jr. and wife Teresa, and daughter Melanie Cramer and husband David.

Pat had eight grandchildren:   David Cramer Jr. (wife Paula), Jeremy Cramer (wife Abigail), Diana Groff, Maureen Groff O’Neal (husband Eric), Eric Groff, Ian Groff, Erin Groff and Duncan Groff. She had one great-grandson: Kyle Cramer.

Pat’s love for painting and travel led to the creation of extraordinary landscapes and still-life art. Her passion for art was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. In later years she shared a studio with her family. Less than two weeks before her passing,  Pat completed her final painting as a gift for the upcoming marriage of her granddaughter Erin and her fiancé Jack. She loved to listen to music while knitting hats for newborns and sweaters for family and friends.

She loved her family very much and was extremely proud of their accomplishments, especially her husband Bill’s involvement in the space program. Pat enjoyed their trips to Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral, Florida to see the launches of several satellites Bill had worked on. Pat was especially proud of her husband’s role as lead guidance systems engineer on the Hubble Space Telescope.

Pat worked in banking for several years and, along with Bill, enjoyed retirement volunteering at Montgomery General Hospital for 13 years.

Pat was Penn State proud and loved PSU football games, cheering loudly at home and travelling to away games.

She will be greatly missed.
