A Message from The Family:
Many of us did not expect for this day to come so soon but our family is grateful for the time we had and that Patty is now free.
When people speak of Patty, they speak of her strength, her ability to mentor, her courage and the immense love she had for her family. Patty has a sign over the door in her home that reads “Family Makes This House a Home”. When we would get caught up in life - Patty would remind us of that sign and that it’s not where you are or what you have, it’s who you have with you that matters. Patty loved and supported her family unconditionally, she was a mother of two and a Grandmother of four - well eight if you include her grand-dogs. She absolutely loved her grand-dogs, Tonka, the English bulldog, was her favorite. Tonka knew the second she pulled into our driveway and would wait by the door for her patiently. If dogs could talk he would have asked us years ago if he could move in with Grandma. Whenever Patty had the opportunity, she would escape to her favorite place - a warm sunny beach and read a book for the entire day.
Over the last several years Patty’s message to her family and her doctor was simple - whatever you need me to do, I will do. Whatever trial treatment is out there, try it on me. If I can help in any way to find a cure or extend someone’s life - use me. She would roll her shoulders back, put that “Patty expression” on her face and walk into treatment with an “I am going to fight this attitude, no exceptions”. Her best friend in life, Ernie, walked hand in hand throughout this journey with Patty, he fought right beside her. Ernie never wavered, he never complained, he stood strong beside his friend and supported not only her, but her entire family. We are eternally grateful for you Ernie, we would not have had this extra time with Patty if it were not for you.
Patty’s wish for us is simple…. Celebrate Life!
Her family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 26 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy.
