Departed this life at Frederick Memorial Hospital on June 5, 2012. She was 91 years old, born September 11, 1920 in Belle Grove, MD. She was the daughter of James I. Swain and Annie E. Swain who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 68 ½ years, Dean F. Elliott, a son Jeffrey N. Elliott, his wife, Rebecca Allen Elliott, of Mount Airy, MD; four grandchildren, Jessamyn E. Brownell of San Clemente, CA; Erin E. Elliott of Oakland, CA; Neal E. Elliott of Crofton, MD; Jennifer A. Bukolt of Chandler, AZ; and eight great-grandchildren.

She graduated in 1938 from Flintstone High School and worked as an aircraft assembler during WWII. In later years she was a salesperson for the Hecht Company. She also was a dedicated wife and mother.

Up until her death, she was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Mount Airy, and during her lifetime was very active in Lutheran churches in Hagerstown, Gaithersburg, and Lanham. She also started and led bible study and prayer groups at several churches.

Reading and writing poetry were important in her life. She was an accomplished poet and wrote many poems of which some were published.

She was preceded in death by ten sisters and three brothers, and is the last of that generation.

The funeral will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. Mount Airy, MD. The family will receive friends at 1 pm and the service will begin at 2 pm Saturday June 9 followed by a graveside internment in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown, MD.

The Rev. Anke Deibler of Calvary Lutheran Church will officiate.
