Olivia Sleeth

Olivia Frances (Cowell) Sleeth, 89, of Hagerstown, MD passed from this life on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Ravenwood Nursing Center.
Born in Funkstown, MD in Washington County, Maryland on July 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Frank H. Cowell Sr. and Frances E. (Hooker) Cowell, and sister of the late Frank Cowell Jr.
She graduated from Hyattsville High School in 1942. She worked as a cartographer for the US Government, and attended Strayer College, University of Maryland and later Montgomery Junior College. She was a homemaker and later worked as a salesperson at Stride-Rite Shoes in Montgomery Mall.
On June 6, 1950 she married James Riker Sleeth Jr. at the Memorial Methodist Church in Hyattsville, MD. In addition to James, she is survived by her 5 children: Timothy Sleeth and wife Donna, Naomi Campagne, Matthew Sleeth and wife Nancy, Bethany Adamo and husband Bill, and Andrew Sleeth; and 4 grandchildren: Timothy and Noah Adamo, Clark and Emma Sleeth; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Olivia was a life-long Methodist and active in the church’s Sunday school programs for over 60 years. Her faith guided her life. She was an avid reader, intelligent, inquisitive and always optimistic.
A memorial service will be held on June 5, 2:00 PM at Ravenwood Assisted Living, 1158 Luther Drive, Hagerstown MD 21740.
