Mrs. Olga E. Shears, 96, of Mt. Airy died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of the late Metro Shears.

Born in Coaldale, PA on December 14, 1911 she was the daughter of the late Veronica (Bialas) and Wasyl Leba. Olga was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church at Poplar Springs, she was active in the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Olga was also a member of the Mt. Airy Homemakers Club, the Senior Citizens Club of Mt. Airy, the Owls Club, and the Treat Yourself Club participating in all right up to her death.

Survivors include her two daughters; Veronica Lack of Spring Hill, FL, and Delores Ann Carney of Woodstock, MD; two sons, Joseph Shears of Mt. Airy, and Edward Shears of Sacramento, CA; two grandchildren, Debra Ann Blankenship of Mt. Airy, and Sean Carney of Baltimore; great grandchildren, Michael Joseph Blankenship of Williamsport, MD, John Michael Blankenship of Libertytown,MD, Conor, Flannery, Bridgett and Grace Carney all of Baltimore, and Emma Carney of North Carolina; great-great grandchildren; Kaitlin, Kelsey, Michael Andrew, Sarah and Justin Blankenship.

She was preceded in death by grandsons, Joseph Michael Lack and David A. Carney, Jr; her sister, Sophie Ovsak; and her brothers, John, Michael, Anthony, Stephen and Joseph Leba.

Visitation: The family will receive friends today (Friday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy where a rosary will be offered during the evening vigil at 7:30 PM.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 12 o'clock noon at St. Michael's Catholic Church at Poplar Springs with Father Michael Ruane officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with the Knights of Columbus serving as pallbearers.
