Odette Reeder

January 4, 1930 — April 5, 2014

Mrs. Odette “Dottie” Kehne Reeder, 84, of Frederick died on Saturday April 5, 2014 at her home. She was the wife of Bruce L. Reeder, Sr.
Born on January 4, 1930 in Frederick she was the daughter of the late Charles Harrison and Ella F. Summers Kehne.
Odette was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mom, aunt, grand mom, great-grand mom and true friend to anyone that knew her. Her passion for politics, playing bridge and pinochle with lifelong friends or being the only female bail bondsman in Frederick defined the women she was. She cooked for large gatherings that included all holiday meals, family picnics and all-star break crab feeds with some Oriole baseball players. She was the #1 Oriole fan! Her slippery pot pie was famous! She was known to eat a dozen ears of corn at a sitting and one would wonder how she could do that being the small women she was. During the annual beach vacation in Ocean City she would always grab a raft to ride the waves and during the Joy Reunion held at Mt. Tabor park she always made sure she went down that big wooden slide at least once. She would dare anyone to a head stand competition and she would usually always win. She loved her cats! Competitive in nature but a softy to those that needed her. Family and reaching out to relatives was very important to her and her love for others extended well beyond her own family. There was always a house full that she took care. Holiday times were magical and she made sure that no one ever went without. She will be so missed and will always be Odette, Mom, Namma, and is now re-united with her beloved daughter Detty that was taken from her so very early in her life at the age of 23.

She Graduated from Frederick High School in 1947 then attended and graduated from Strayer Business College in 1950.
She worked from 1950 – 1953 at Ft. Detrick as a secretary
1953 - 1954: Air Research & Development Command and 1965 - 1990: Bruce & Odette Reeder Bail Bond business. She was member of the Womens Civic Club, Optimist Mrs. Club and the Democratic State Central Committee 1974 - 1978.

The family would like to thank her caregivers for the last six months Cheryl Deener and Joann Smith.

Also surviving are her children Bruce L. Reeder Jr. and wife Janet of Frederick, Susan Reeder Jessee and husband Lawrence of Middletown and Chuck W. Reeder and wife Yvonne of Woodsboro. Grandchildren Bonnie Gibbons and husband Myles, Clayton Reeder, Matthew Jessee, Bradley Reeder, Emily Jessee, Alexis Reeder and Aaron Reeder. Great grandchildren Aeryn and Connor Gibbons. Sister Ellen Kehne Emmons. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
