Norman Edward Tobery Jr., 64, of Walkersville, MD, passed away at his farm on October 11, 2017 after a very short battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Janice (Onderdonk) Tobery.
He entered the wild ride of life on September 23, 1953, the loving son of the late Norman Tobery Sr. and Hazel Tobery. Norman was a graduate of Frederick High School, Class of 1971. Norman was known for his beautiful blue eyes, his easy smile, and big heart. He loved all four-legged creatures dearly (the two-legged ones not so much). As a child, he would kidnap neighborhood cats and bring them home. He was surrounded by hundreds of loving friends throughout his life. He loved riding in his rock-crawler truck and made some of the most lasting memories with his dear friends known as the “KGB”, especially with the late Rick “Snake” Sawyers. He loved listening to Rock & Roll and Country music while having a cold Michelob. He was a master finish carpenter for most of his adult life until 2008 after which he, his wife and daughter Brittany operated Pleasant Ridge Farm, Walkersville, MD.
Norman will be fondly remembered and profoundly missed by his wife, Janice Tobery; his daughters, Kelly Daniel and husband Craig of Charles Town, WV, and Brittany Doody and husband Matt of New Market, MD; his loving mother, Hazel Tobery of Sevierville, TN; his sister, Barbara “Bobby” Tobery-Hack and husband Dallas Hack of Sevierville, TN; his grandchildren Ben, Nathan, Jake and Emmie; and brothers-in-law Larry and John Onderdonk and sister-in-law Eileen and husband Joe Gideon; and multiple nieces and nephews. Norman will also be missed by his furry friends, Bailey (his riding buddy), Dutchie, Bella, Addison, Jesse, Eastwood and Zach.
A big thank you to the amazing organization Hospice of Frederick County for making it possible for Norman to be at home with his family and friends.
