Norman Rathvon

Mr. Norman T. Rathvon, 91, of Thurmont died on Saturday September 8, 2012 at Glade Valley Center, Walkersville, MD. He was the husband of the late Margaret Kilroy Rathvon.

Born in Washington D.C., on November 9, 1920 he was the son of the late Karl Rathvon and the late Marie Schubert Frobisher.

Surviving are his daughters, Kathryn (John) Dowling and Mary Newman of Thurmont, MD, and his sons, Karl (Betsy) Rathvon of Marietta, GA; Michael Rathvon of Cascade, MD; and David (Lee) Rathvon of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a half-sister Dianys Reis of Scarsdale, NY; a granddaughter Marion E. Dowling and a daughter-in-law Rebecca Rathvon.

Friends may call from 6-9 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street Thurmont on Wednesday September 12, 2012 and from 10:00 until 11:00 AM on Thursday September 13, 2012 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish Center, 103 N. Church Street, Thurmont.  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin in the church at 11:00 AM., Rev. Lawrence Donohoo will be the celebrant.  Interment will be private.
