Norman Murray

June 22, 1934 — September 7, 2011

Norman A. Murray, 75, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 while surrounded by his family at his daughter's home in Boonsboro, Maryland.

Born on June 22, 1936, in Barre, Vermont, he was the son of the late Louis and Jessie Hammerli.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Norman was a baptized member of Greenridge Baptist Church near Clarksburg, Maryland, and attended the Bethesda-Chevy Chase School in Bethesda, Maryland.

He worked as a truck driver for Standard Building Systems and most recently with Rockville Fuel and Feed Company.

Norman will be fondly remembered for his love of travel and riding his scooter.

He is survived by his wife, Doris A. (Palmer) Murray; his former wife, Emma Murray of Frederick, Maryland; his five children, Keith Murray of Jefferson, Maryland, Alex Murray of Thurmont, Maryland, Victoria Murray of Boonsboro, Rory Murray, and Kelly Murray of Bunker Hill; three step-daughters, Tina Desjardins, Rita Dodson and her husband Robert, and Loretta Blair and her husband David, all of Bunker Hill; three grandchildren, Michael Selby, Gregory Murray and Allyson Murray; and six step-grandchildren, Stacy Poston, Sony Poston, Steven Desjardins, Shelby Desjardins, Justin Dodson and Kayla Dodson.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.  Rev. Warren Rice will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
