Norma Mae “Peachie” Harris Wachter, 83, died at her home in New Midway, MD on July 5, 2017. Born on August 23, 1933, she was the daughter of Sherwood and Beatrice Nuse Harris.
Peachie was the loving wife of Donald “Scotty” Wachter for more than 64 years. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2015. Together they owned Sunhaven Farm, where they raised Holstein cows.
Peachie spent most of her life as a housewife and mother. She also spent many hours in the field making hay or in the barn milking cows. She loved to quilt and crochet. Peachie made beautiful double wedding quilts for family members and baby afghans for all the newborns. Peachie was also an excellent cook. Her peanut butter fudge and kinklings were loved by all. She won many blue ribbons for her fruit cakes.
Surviving are sons: Steve (Jan), Jay (Suzi), Mark (Jennifer) and Scott Wachter; daughter, Bonnie (Kevin) Dudrow; grandchildren Keith (Tonia) Wachter, Kelly Byrd (Sidney), Jenifer Hipkins (Scott), Ryan Dudrow, Cody, Stacey and Blayne (Becky) Wachter; step-grandchildren Kelly and Christopher Willard, Ashley Lewis and Deverule Shafer; great-grandchildren Tyler, Libi, Josh, Jackson and Michael Hipkins, Ben and William Wachter, Jeffrey Byrd, Marley Dudrow, and Oliviyah Grace; sister, Rennie (Buster) Gerwig, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Peachie was preceded by sister, Mayetta “Dolly” and husband Harold Toms and Audrey “Jackie” and husband Tommy Staley.
The family would like to thank the Hospice of Frederick County staff for the excellent care given to Peachie during the past year.
Friends will be received on Monday, July 10 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 11 at 11:00 AM at Mount Zion "Haugh's" Lutheran Church, 11504 Haughs Church Road, Keymar, MD 21757. Interment will be in the Haughs Church Cemetery immediately following the church service.
