Norma "Rae" Haller, beloved sister, aunt, and dedicated educator, passed away on April 6th at the age of 72. Rae was born to the late Norman "Monk" Haller and Bertha Haller, and she leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and a passion for teaching that touched the lives of many.
Growing up in Brunswick, Rae attended Brunswick High School, where she demonstrated her academic prowess and genuine care for others. After graduating in 1969, she pursued her higher education at Frostburg State University, earning her Bachelor's degree in 1974. Determined to further her knowledge and skills, she continued her studies, obtaining her Masters Degree plus 30 credits in 1976.
Rae's true calling revealed itself when she stepped into the classroom. For 34 years, she poured her heart and soul into educating generations of students at Waverley Elementary School. Teaching wasn't just a job for Rae; it was her passion, her purpose, and her joy. Her commitment to nurturing young minds and instilling a love for learning left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of being her student.
Beyond her dedication to education, Rae was a talented and creative soul. In her leisure time, she indulged in various crafts, including crocheting, knitting, and watercolor painting. Her artistic endeavors were a reflection of her vibrant spirit and keen eye for beauty in the world around her.
Rae found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly her love for the beach and her adventures in travel. She cherished the moments spent visiting her brother's family in the different locations he was stationed during his time in the Navy. These experiences allowed her to create cherished memories with her loved ones while exploring new horizons.
Norma "Rae" Haller will be deeply missed by her brother Jay Haller, Sister-in-law Lynn Haller, niece Samantha Veit, and nephews Edward Lobo and Christopher Haller and their children, along with countless friends, colleagues, and former students whose lives she enriched with her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication.
