Nora Virginia (Griffith) Lohman

Nora Virginia (Griffith) Lohman, 99, of Boonsboro, Maryland, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.


Born July 17, 1910 in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Cleveland and Mary Catherine (Whittington) Griffith.


She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry L. Lohman, in 1965 and her second husband, Gardner Leon Lohman.  Her daughter, Catherine Lohman died at the age of nine and her son, Henry Lohman, died in infancy.


Nora was a homemaker and worker as a farmer on her family farm.  She had also been an employee of the Hagerstown Shoe Factory and Reeders Memorial Home.


Mrs. Lohman was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Keedysville, Maryland.   She also was a former member of the former Hagerstown Moose Lodge 212, the Blue Ridge Riding Club, and the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.


She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Ann Turner of Boonsboro, Maryland; and two sons, Donald L. Lohman of Boonsboro and Richard E. Lohman of Hagerstown.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.


In addition to her husbands and two young children, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah Mace, Helen Morgan, Margaret Churchey and Nellie Bundnell; her brothers, Joseph T. and Martin Raymond Griffith; and her great-grandson Shawn Langley.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.  Rev. James E. Jones will officiate.  Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Maryland.


The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral home.
