Nicolina E. Gialanella

Nicolina Elvira Gialanella, 78, of Walkersville Maryland, passed away in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loved ones on March 17th, 2025.

Nicolina was born on August 14th, 1946, to Filomena and Raffaele DiBiasi in the small town of Guardia Di Lombardi, Italy. At age nine, she came to the United States and resided with family in the Bronx. Shortly after, she moved to Mamaroneck and then Harrison NY. She graduated from Harrison High school in 1964 and then attended Business school.

On September 20th, 1970, she married the love of her life Michele Gialanella, who she has known since she was a little girl back in Italy. Nicolina and Michele went on to have two children, Joseph and Angela.

Nicolina worked in the front office for Pikesville Nursing Center for many years and then went on and worked at CareFirst BlueCross and BlueShield. She cherished the friendships made at each job tremendously. When she was not at work, she spent her time in the kitchen cooking many Sunday Dinners for her family; as well as spending time with her grandchildren, who she adored. Nicolina retired at age 70 and moved to Frederick to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Nicolina was known for her amazing cooking, her love for her family and friends and her devotion to her faith.

Nicolina was predeceased by her brother Angelo, and parents Filomena and Raffaele. Nicolina is survived by her husband Michele, son Joseph, daughter Angela, daughter-in-law Ary, son-in-law Brett, and her grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Zachary, Nicholas and Lucas.

Visitation will be held at Stauffer’s Funeral home in Frederick, MD on Friday March 21st, 2025, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Services will be held at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Walkersville, MD on Saturday March 22nd, 2025, at 11am. The Interment will take place at Druid Ridge Cemetery in Pikesville, MD following the service.
