Nicole Marie Smith

Nicole Marie Smith, 38, of Mount Airy, passed from this life on Monday, August 22, 2022 at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.

Born on October 10, 1983, in Rockville, MD, she was the daughter Timothy O. Miller of Rockville, MD; and Debra & Larry Dukes of Babcock Ranch, FL.

Nicole graduated from Beebe School of Nursing in 2004. She began her 18 year career as an RN at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE; then moved to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD; then ended at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. "Caring for sick children was Nicole's calling and her heart!"

She loved children; and when asked where she found her joy, her answer was always "My Kids". She loved being a pediatric nurse and her heart was always caring for kids. Her heart broke over & over when taking care of pediatric cancer patients - especially the ones that had their lives cut way too short. She carried a lot of that sorrow along side the parents.

Surviving in addition to her parents are four children: Tyki Lamar Spencer, Tykira Renee Spencer, Tatiyana Marie Spencer, and Aliyah Elizabeth Smith; a brother, Timothy J. Miller; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; she will also be remembered by many friends, and co-workers including her BFFs: Dawn (Schwab) Beach of Damascus, MD; Sarah (Shaub) Matthews of Georgetown, DE; and Leslie Mitchell of Raleigh, NC.

A celebration of Nicole's life will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 29, at First Baptist Church of Damascus, 8850 Damascus Road in Damascus, MD. Rev. Jim Sherlin will officiate.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Childrens' Hospital, or your favorite childrens' medical charity"
