Nick McGinnis

Nicholas Ryan “Nick” McGinnis, 19, of Middletown, passed from this life on Friday, June 8.  Born on November 4, 1998, in Rockville, he was the son of Charlie and Shelly McGinnis.

Nick was a 2017 graduate of Middletown High School, where he enjoyed his days on the lacrosse team.  In his younger days, he excelled in many years of playing baseball and football.

He worked as a construction mechanic at Reliant Drywall, where he worked alongside his father.

Nick was an adventurous, fun-loving person with a big heart who was well loved by his devoted family and many friends.  He was a caring son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He made friends with everyone, was loyal to all and was willing to help anyone.  He liked to live big, believed in going all the way, and always bought the best despite the cost.  If Nick had an interest, he was fully devoted in researching it until he was an expert and gave 100% to everything he did. Nick took great pride in his car, absolutely loved modifying it and recently enjoyed racing at a local race track.  He had a great passion for cars and made many friends among local enthusiasts.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two siblings Renee McGinnis and Ryan McGinnis; paternal grandparents Joe and Myrtle Walter; maternal grandmother Fran Rambler.  He is also survived by aunts and uncles Kathy Lust and her husband Brian, Stacey Williams and her husband Tim, Patrick McGinnis, Christine Gaskey and her husband Ed, Cariann Mencer and her husband Crick, Richard Rambler, Jr. and his wife Lynn.  Nick is also survived by many cousins, with whom he was very close.  He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather Richard Rambler, Sr.

Nick lived life to the limits and his only fear was his addiction, which he fought so desperately to overcome.  His struggles with addiction were a part of his life, but they certainly did not define the wonderful person that he was.  His family’s hope is that their loss can help stop the stigma of addiction and serve as a reminder that life is fragile and addiction does not discriminate.  Nick’s family would like to thank those friends and family who always supported him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 13 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.  A funeral service will be held immediately following visiting hours at 7:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nick’s family to help with funeral expenses.
