Nicholas Palmisano

Nicholas Alexander Palmisano, beloved son of Catherine Cullen Palmisano Kranitz and Dr. Mark Palmisano died on December 28, 2018 in La Paz, Mexico from pneumonia and a rare strain of malaria he contracted while visiting Gabon, Africa. Nick was visiting friends when he became ill in La Paz. He was born on October 15, 1989 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland.

He attended The Banner School, New Market Schools, Linganore High School and Towson University.
Nick was a musician at heart, he could listen to a tune then sit at the piano and play it, he did not learn to read music until high school. He was a percussionist in middle school and high school. He participated in marching band, concert ensemble, and jazz ensemble. He played in several local bands and traveled to Serbia in 2008 with a local jazz band to perform in the 15th Annual Russian Jazz Festival. He enjoyed teaching younger  students how to play the drums. His neighbors could often listen to his bands on weekends in his family's garage. He was an avid reader, played chess and loved to play with his nephews whenever he was home. He loved to come home to the country and lay in the backyard to watch the stars.
Nick participated in soccer, basketball and lacrosse. He was an ice hockey goalie for the Frederick Fury Ice Hockey Travel Club. He was known for his quickness and agility on the ice and was the Washington Capitals Goalie of the month the season his team finished 33 shut outs of 34 games.

Nick was a gentle and compassionate soul with an amazing sense of humor who over the last several years worked to help others with  addictions through the Ibogaine and Iboga Wellness Centers in Mexico and Costa Rica as a coach and counselor. He helped by sharing his own previous struggles
and success overcoming addiction. He recently developed a 5 year plan to continue this work in the US by opening an aftercare wellness center here in the US.

He loved life to its fullest. He started everyday with the thought that life is good, be thankful for yours regardless of your struggles. Life is a journey to be lived and loved. "Don't worry about the future, that is for God only to know, live in the present moment." He welcomed all he met with an open heart and home.

This amazing young man leaves behind his parents; brothers, Cullen and Ben Palmisano; sister-in-law, Catherine Palmisano; nephews, Helix and Arkin Palmisano; niece, Ovella Palmisano; step-father,  Martin Kranitz; step-mother, Kendra Hawk and step sisters, Gail Hagen, Winter Hawk, Elyse Kranitz Brunais and Genna Kranitz. He is also survived by a a huge tribe of family and friends locally and worldwide.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd. Mount Airy, MD. 21771 on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. Following services the family will invite those attending to the family home to share stories and to break bread.
