Nelson Manuel Melendez

Nelson Manuel Melendez, 69, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Casey Hospice House in Derwood, MD.  Born on July 9, 1953, in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Jose Melendez and Maria (Rosario) Melendez. 

Nelson graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring in 1972.  He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast, known for his bright orange 55 Chevy and his burgundy Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  He was the former membership chairperson of the Rockville Chapter of Harley-Davidson Owners Group. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Michael Melendez, Sr. and wife Crystal, his daughter, Cynthia Melendez and fiancé Dorell Bell; a grandson, Michael Melendez, Jr.; and brothers & sister Jose Melendez, Carlos Melendez, Elba Schwartz, and Robert Melendez, and their family members. He was predeceased by his sister, Mirta Nanavichit. 

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD, with a celebration of his life to begin at 6 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim May.
