Nelson Eugene Evans "Gene" 78, of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, August 3, 2017 in Mount Airy, Md.
Born on March 3, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland he was the son of John Christopher Evans and Florence Ruth (Steiner) Evans.
He graduated from Glen Burnie High School with honors and served in the United States Air Force in the 60’s.
He was retired 32 years from General Motors as a diesel mechanic.
He was survived by his wife of 50 years Helen Yvonne Evans and his two daughters Kimberly Jean Moore and Dawn Elizabeth Evans. Sister Eileen Evans and son in law Kevin Moore & grandchildren Nathaniel Moore, Ryan Moore, Emily Moore, Brian Shewbridge and great grandchildren Andrianna, Brianna & Brian Jr. He was preceded in death by son Edward Evans & daughter Denise Evans.
Gene was an amazing and loving father and grandfather. He was an incredibly talented and gifted auto mechanic with a passion for antique cars and model railroading. A very compassionate man who had a wonderful way with children & animals. He had a love for life an amazing sense of humor and will be tremendously missed.
A celebration of Nelson’s life journey will take place at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy with Rev. Tim May officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the funeral home.
