N. Elaine (Wilhide) Skidmore, Tsgt. USAFR

Mrs. N. Elaine ( Wilhide ) Skidmore, Tsgt USAFR, 34, of Thurmont, MD, died At her home on Thursday, February 4, 2010. She was the wife of Matthew P. Skidmore.

Born on July 8th, 1975 in Frederick, she was the daughter of Dan and Nancy ( Bowers ) Wilhide of Thurmont.

Mrs. Skidmore was a graduate of Catoctin High School, Class of 1993. Prior to her illness she was employed for the U.S. Airforce as an Intelligence Specialist at Ft. Meade MD. She was a very active Air Force Reservist with the Unit 78th Air Refueling Squadron, at McQuire Air Force Base, serving as the unit level training manager. She participated in the deployment of many air-ground operations to numerous locations.

She attended a variety of military professional schools to enhance her military career.

Elaine served 9 years of active duty and 7 years of reserve duty with the Air Force Reserves.

Surviving beside her husband and parents are one son, Tyler Greer Skidmore, Three sisters, Sharon Bittner and husband Bill, Dawn Porter, Jennifer Knill and husband Chris, her father and mother-in-law, Maurice and Joyce Skidmore, special friends, Elise Peterson, Marlena Study, Shawn Brown. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation: Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Tuesday, February 9th, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. With Rev. James A. Coblentz officiating.
Interment with Air Force Honors in Blue Ridge Cemetery.
