Nathan Doody, 71, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene.
Born on November 30, 1948, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary Mildred (Hull) Doody.
Nathan loved being at Charles town Races and Slots. He loved horses, going fishing, playing volleyball, cards, playing games with family and friends, and listening to music. Loving to cook, he used his culinary skills making some mean carp dough.
When he wasn't fishing or cooking you would find Nathan gardening. He was known to have one of the best gardens in Frederick County, as published in the newspaper. He would sit outside watching and listening to birds and enjoying nature.
Growing up, Nathan lived and worked on his dad's farm. He made his own business out of his self-taught small engine repair. He helped out his good friends Dave and Charlie at Bill's Lawn Mower Service.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa L. Nichols of Taneytown and Denise D. Doody of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Kayla Smith Dewees, Brittany Vaughn, and Kameron Nichols; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Samuel; brother, Tommy Doody and his wife, Rita; brother-in-law, Thomas Kolb, Sr.; nieces and nephews, Brenda Doody, Sherry Doody-Nolan, Dwayne Doody, Denny Warner and his wife, Sharon, Vickie Warner, and Robin Myers and her husband, Bill; his former wife and her husband, Wilma and Terry Caudill; and close friends, Pat Christoff, Clay Witmer, Jeff Trimmer, Fran Frantz, Gene Jorden and girlfriend, Carie.
Nathan was preceded in death by his siblings, Maryann Warner Kolb, and Ronnie Doody and his wife, Carole; his former son-in-law, Larry Nichols; his granddaughter's father, Samuel Smith; and by his close friend, Sandra White.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.
