Mr. Nathan L. Breed, Jr., 84, of Frederick, Maryland passed away, Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty Golden Breed.
Born October 19, 1929 in Parkersburg, WV, he was the son of the late Nathan L., Sr. and Tressia Ruth Jarvis Breed and Enid Breedon.
He started his teaching career, in Baltimore, Maryland in 1951 at Boys Latin, and went on to work at Perry Hall Senior High, West Virginia University, University Center, in Parkersburg, WV, Maryland State Department of Education. He coordinated the Maryland Industrial Training Program. From 1971 to 1977 he personally established 35 new industries and assisted in designing and training 5,000 new positions. Mr. Breed was very proud of all the students that won awards and his work in helping to secure grants for research.
He is survived by three children Sharon Woodland and husband William of Staunton, VA, Dawn Nelson and husband Curtis of Myersville and Jill Browning of Middletown, six grandchildren Jason Woodland, Christopher Woodland, April Teague Showalter, Amy Browning-Dill, Daniel Browning and Lindsey Browning, great –grandchildren Sadie, Abigail and Tori Showalter, Brookelyn and Kaitlyn Woodland and Kayden Browning, Sophia and Anastasia Dill and a half-sister Karen Gwynn.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Thursday, August 7, from 2-4 and 7-9pm, where service will be held Friday, August 8, at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike O’Donnel officiating.
