Naomi Waynant

April 18, 1911 — April 20, 2012

NAOMI GRACE (MARTIN) WAYNANT (1911-2012) of Sabillasville, MD. passed on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Emeritus Senior Living in Westminster, MD.  at the age of 101.  She was the wife of Vaughn W. Waynant who died in 1978.

Born on April 18, 1911 in Emmitsburg, MD, Mrs. Waynant was the daughter of the late David Nevin and Phoebe Eigenbrode Martin.

Mrs. Waynant, a graduate of the Emmitsburg High School and Towson College was a teacher in the Sabillasville Elementary School from 1931-1971.  She was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ, Sabillasville, and a member of the Sunday School.  She was also a member of the county, state, and national Retired Teachers Associations.

Surviving are a son, Ronald W. Waynant (Priscilla), a daughter, Deborra Lego (B. Timothy), five grandchildren, Marcia, William, Kristopher, Matthew and Andrew as well as three great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Julianne, and MacKenzie; a sister, Esther DiGiacinto and a brother, Homer Martin and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by five brothers: Everett, George, Roland, Donald, and Sterling, as well as one sister, Helen Martin Hildenbrand.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Mains Street, Thurmont, MD. Funeral  services will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 16923 Sabillasville Road,  Sabillasville, MD on Saturday, April 28 at 10:30 A.M.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, MD.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 137, Sabillasville, MD 21780-0137.
