Naomi Evans

Naomi Viola Evans went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 24, 2018 in Palm Harbor, Florida where she lived since 1995. She was the beloved wife of the late Claude E. Evans for 70 years. She spent most of her life living in Frederick. She is survived by sons, Charles (Kathie) and Michael (Camille); two grandchildren, Sarah (Evan) and Allan (Inga); six great-grandchildren, Henry, Sierra, Krystal, Jaden, Melanie, and Clayton; a number of nieces and nephews; daughter-in-heart, Annie (Scott), and grandson-in-heart, Andrew.

Naomi Evans (Keeney) was born in Frederick, Md. on September 7, 1928, where she attended school before moving to Baltimore as a young woman where she would meet and later marry Claude Evans on April 5, 1946. The couple would return to Frederick in a few years, and Naomi would take a job at the Southern Restaurant on North Market St. and later at the Bucheimer Leather Factory before taking a job at the Food Fair grocery store in the new 7th Street Shopping Center where she would finish out her working career.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Claude and her two sisters, Ada Burns (Floyd-Buddy), formerly of Damascus, Md. and Dolly Burdette (Wallace), also formerly of Damascus. She was a very active, long time member of First Baptist Church, Frederick Md. before moving to Florida where she remained active at North Bay Community Church in Clearwater for a number of years. While in Frederick, she served as a volunteer in a number of capacities including as a Hospice caregiver and an attendant at the gift store of Frederick Memorial Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. and the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice North Pinellas, 164 West Lake Road, Palm Harbor, FL 34684.
