Nancy "Grammy" Gentel

Nancy H. Gentel, 84,passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 at Julia Manor Health Care, Hagerstown.
Born February 25, 1933 in Forest City, NC she was the daughter of the late Hoyt and Ethel (Jones) Sparks.
Nancy enjoyed spending her teenage years on Carolina beach in NC. She worked as a telephone operator in Norfolk, VA and El Paso TX before becoming a homemaker and mother. Nancy's greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was better known as Grammy to all who loved and knew her. In her later years she resided at Spring Ridge Senior Apartments, where she was active with the Red Hat Society and Saturday morning coffee club.
She is survived by her children Michael Gentel and wife Julie of Woodsboro, Stephen Gentel of Hagerstown and Angela Grossnickle and husband Brian of Myersville; six grandchildren, Brittany Gentel, Megan Gentel, Austin Gentel, Abby Grossnickle, Jenna Grossnickle and Owen Gentel; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Gentel and Kalynn Shorb and special niece Diana.
She was preceded in death by her brother David and sister Martha.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 6-8PM.
Interment will be private.
