Nancy Sweeney

Mrs. Nancy Lee Sweeney, 65, of Thurmont died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of Clifford "Wink" Sweeney for nearly 50 years.

Born June 4, 1949 in Gettysburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Truman Smith and Edith Violia Wills Click.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nancy enjoyed playing cards, especially 500 rummy and poker, and was an avid bingo player. She loved taking family vacations, whether traveling annually to Florida or spending weekends at their river retreat. She was a member of the Amvets, American Legion 121, and the V.F.W. auxiliaries of Emmitsburg.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Clifford Lee "Pee Wee" Sweeney and wife, Elizabeth, of Emmitsburg; daughter, Tina Marie Sweeney, and companion Rick Plunkard, of Funkstown; four grandchildrne, Amanda Sweeney, Chad Sweeney, Brittney Hughes and Justin Kerns; five great-grandchildren, Sadie, Tommy Lee, Vanessa, Lacie, and Landon; a sister, Linda Wantz and husband, Steve, of Emmitsburg; three brothers, James Click  and wife, Tiffany, of Emmitsburg; Richard Click of Walkersville, and Herbert H. Click, Jr. and wife, Bobbie Jean, of Emmitsburg and several nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered by her caregiver, Timmy Icard. The family would like to extend special thanks to the hospice program of Frederick County and to her nurses Jeff and Mary Lou.

She was predeceased by her parents and her step-father, Herbert H. Click.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 30 from the funeral home with Pastor Sally Joyner-Giffin officiating.

Interment will be private.
