Nancy Newman

Nancy Ann Newman, 70, of Frederick, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Born on November 25, 1947, in Frederick, she was a daughter of George Edward Newman and Pearl Savannah (Fisher) Newman. She also leaves behind her long life partner George Hairston.
Nancy attended Frederick High School in Frederick County and graduated in 1965. After graduating from high school she began her career working at Sears and Roebucks for many years. She then went on to work for We Cleaning Services and finished her career owning a home daycare center, in Frederick where she focused on providing day care services for families in her community.

Nancy also known as Momma, Grandma and Grandmommy was well known in the Frederick Community and the matriarch of her family. She focused on assisting single mothers as well as family with fixed incomes when opening her own home daycare center charging one dollar an hour fee per child. She was not only a mother to her children but also to children in the neighborhood, Her doors and kitchen were always open!

She leaves to cherish her memory son, Darrick Newman, Sr., daughter, Tinena L. Newman, son, William L. Hairston, Sr., daughter, Ashya Smith-Randolph (Taiquan), daughter, Diamon Fossett ; sister, Linda B. Newman, brother, Terry Newman, brother George Newman Jr and her one and only uncle Daniel Fisher and wife Lynn; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Moran, Shaquille Wilson, Shamon Gennes, Larry Gennes Jr., Darrick Newman Jr, Chadaya Hairston, Navayha Casey, William Hairston Jr.; 5 great-grandchildren, Brodie Moran, Calvin Moran, Kamiya Smothers, Shanell Wilson, Shania Smith-Randolph, Goddaughter Keyanna Diggs and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her Parents & grandparents.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 1, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick. A celebration of Nancy's life journey will take place immediately following the visitation at 11:00 am in the chapel of the funeral home. Pastor Robert Waters will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at a later date
