Mrs. Nancy G. Mullen, of Lovettsville VA, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014. She was the wife of the late Richard "Dick" Mullen.

Born September 7, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Fred Lee George and Hypatia Poffenbarger George.

Nancy graduated from Radford University in Virginia in 1949. She taught in Pulaski until she started teaching at Middletown High School in Middletown, Maryland. She coached the girls basketball team and taught physical education.

She married her husband Richard August 23, 1952.

Nancy coached ponytail softball in Loudon County for many successful years in the 60's. She enjoyed playing tennis and she still played in her 70's. She also enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach for two weeks every summer with her family and friends. She was an avid Oriole and Redskin Fan and enjoyed watching any sports on TV. Every Saturday night she enjoyed dancing with her friends at the Frederick Moose.

Nancy was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Petersville.

She is survived by her two children, Hypatia Tarleton and husband Mark of Rosemont, MD and Richard Mullen, Jr. and wife Nevella of Lovettsville, VA, four grandchildren, Heather Osman and husband Michael, Cecily Mullen, Morgan Mullen and Megan Tarleton and two great grandchildren, Chase and Preston, brother, Henry George and wife Pat and sister Hypatia Hawes and husband George and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Preston Tarleton

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Ave. Brunswick on Tuesday, February 18th from 6:00-9:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 19th at 2:00PM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 4231 Catholic Church Rd. with Father George Limmer officiating.

Burial will take place in the Lovettsville Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation of Frederick County, Preston Tarleton Fund, 312 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21702.
