Nancy Lee Mackenzie

Nancy Lee Mackenzie,, 89, of Mt. Airy, MD,  passed from this life on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph S. Mackenzie, Jr. who died on June 9, 1973.

Born on September 9, 1934 in Lewisdale, MD, she was the daughter of the late Roby S. Watkins and Margaret Catherine Watkins.

Nancy worked at Aspen Publishing in Frederick MD.

Nancy was independent, adventurous and so strong. She enjoyed traveling the world and here in the States. She loved the beach, especially Corolla, NC and the Wild Horses, reading and doing puzzles, her flower gardens and spending time with her wonderful friends. Her greatest joy was her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, great grand children and great great grand children.

Surviving are two children: Terri Parrish and husband Jim of Frederick, MD and Melanie Schmidt and husband David of Mt. Airy, MD; five grandchildren: Amy Gregory of Waynesboro, PA, Karie Summers and husband Ryan of Middletown, MD, Rachel Flavin and husband Walker of Glenelg, MD, Joseph Schmidt and wife Stephanie of Sykesville, MD, and Anne Asbacher and husband Troy of Sykesville, MD; eleven great grandchildren: Keenan Brown and partner Lily Cozart, Jalen Dorsey, Amaya Dorsey, Isaac Summers, Landen Summers, Brody Summers, Mackenzie Flavin, Patrick Flavin, Jack Flavin, Anthony Schmidt and Vincent Schmidt; one great great grandchild; Kaijah Brown.

Visitation will be at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD, on Friday, March 29, 2024, as follows: 2-3 pm for family, 3-4 pm for friends with a service to follow at 4 pm.
