Nancy Barr

Nancy Barr, 75, of Walkersville, MD, formerly of Locust Grove, VA, passed from this life on July 19 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Earl "Buddy" Barr, who preceded her in death in 2015.  Born on April 23, 1943 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of John Henry Phillips and Elizabeth Stiver Phillips.
Nancy was married to her husband of nearly 53 years on December 12, 1962.  She worked as an auto theft investigator for GEICO insurance company in Washington, DC for more than 20 years.  Buddy and Nancy called Locust Grove home for many years.  Mrs. Barr was an active member at Wilderness Community Church in Virginia.  After Buddy passed away, Nancy slowly transitioned her life to Walkersville, living with her son Wes until her passing.  She most recently enjoyed attending church at Calvary Assembly of God in Walkersville along with her immediate family.
Some of Nancy's favorite times were spent with her family on beach vacations.  One of her favorite places to visit was Rehoboth Beach.  Her most recent beach vacations were trips to Jamaica and Virginia Beach where she cherished memories of spending time with the family.
She is survived by her 2 sons; Wes Barr and Steve Barr and his wife Judy; her grandchildren: Meghan Lauren and Mason Stephen Barr.  She is also survived by her sisters: Peggy Smeltzer and Betty Jane Straub.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Barr.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm  at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.  A celebration of Nancy's life journey will take place on Tuesday, July 24 at 11:00 am at Calvary Assembly of God, 8234 Woodsboro Pike in Walkersville, Pastor Pete Gillott will officiate.  Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park in  Rockville.
