Myrtle "Beth" Parenteau, 84 of Frederick, Maryland passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Kline Hospice House.
Born January 16, 1927 in Frederick, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Hermann and Myrtle Brust, and she resided most of her life in her beautiful home on Edgewood Church Road in Frederick.
Beth was the beloved wife of the late Winfred B "Wink" Edwards for 26 years until his passing. Five years later Beth met and married the late Glenn Parenteau and was happily married for 25 years.
Beth moved to Washington DC after graduating from Frederick High School in 1944
and became a successful administrative secretary within the Bureau of the Budget for the Federal Government. She retired from the Government and returned to Frederick five years later to raise her three children with her late husband Winfred. Beth returned to the work force as the school secretary for Governor Thomas Johnson Jr. High School. Beth loved her job and particularly enjoyed the students. After a wonderful 20 year career she retired. Beth came out of retirement in later life and worked as a real estate assistant as well as successfully operating the family rental home business as the Managing Principal and Property Manager.
Beth was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, The Calvary XYZ Club, The Rose Hill Garden Club, The Rainbow Bells, and AARP, among other luncheon organizations. She took great pride in her club involvement and held many positions, she especially enjoyed organizing the luncheons for the members.
Beth loved life and was full of life. She was an avid gardener and loved bird watching. She enjoyed reading and walking on the beach at her Sanibel Island resort property, and traveling. Her favorite interests were her family, her home, and entertaining in the backyard. Beth was a great conversationalist, and always loved to tell a good story among friends and family. Beth was known by many for her kindness, determination, and love of people.
Beth is survived by her three beloved children Elizabeth E "Betsy" King, Patricia E. Rice and husband Jelene, Michael A. Edwards and wife Debbie, grandson, Michael Chase Edwards, granddaughters, Madeline Justice and Marley Justice, step-grandsons, Derek Rice and Chad Rice,
step-children Mark Parenteau, Kathlenn Adams, Phyllis Crane, and her sister Nora May “Terry” Morton.
She will also be remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren, her
cousins Mary Elizabeth Eyler , and Pat Sunday, and her special friend George Clayton Stauffer.She is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Morseberger and her brother, Herman Brust, Jr.
The family will receive and welcome friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Monday, September 12 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 13th at 10:00AM at Calvary United Methodist Church, 131 West 2nd Street, Frederick with Rev. Kenneth R. Dunnington officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Oivet Cemetery.
