Died suddenly August 29, 2011 ( after nearly recovering from her latest illness ), Myra Jeanne Wilson aged 94; born November 29, 1916. She attributed her longevity to staying away from Doctors and Hospitals as a patient; as much as possible. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; she was predeceased by her Father Charles ( who was gassed at Chateau-Thierry; but survived until 1928 ) and Mother Cleo Jean Lee, of New York. Also Predeceased by her step-father Williard Lee of Baltimore ( related to R.E. Lee ). Educated in Baltimore, Maryland; under the “learn or get your knuckles hit with a ruler” regime, she passed College Prep in High School. Predeceased by her first husband; Aaron Martin of Pennsylvania, KIA in WWII, 82 nd Seabees. Myra and her mother Jean both worked as hospital telephone operators at Woman’s Hospital in Baltimore; and Myra worked as a hospital telephone operator at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois as well as telephone operator at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson. Myra was also the telephone operator for Galena, Illinois. Predeceased by her loving husband Glenn S. Wilson in Illinois. Predeceased by her loving Daughter; Nancy Harryman and her husband Richard, of Manassas, Virginia, where she has many surviving nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews and some great-greats all of which she loved especially Lisa McDaniel, Faye Sprouse, Didi Harryman, and little Shawn McDaniel. Also surviving her are her cousin Jim Stout and His wife Doreen of Utah and a host of cousins out there. Surviving Myra is her loving son, Merrell Wilson, of Frederick; with whom she resided and loved. Myra’s survivors also include her loving daughter’s Glenna Wilson, of Florida, and Roxanne Muir, of Pennsylvania; and Roxanne’s children Elizabeth, William, and Bobby; all of whom she loved. A modern woman before her time; Myra always protected children and herself and did what she pleased in life to which the men had to agree. Myra was pleased to be a homemaker and enjoyed yard sales to find collectibles. Myra’s one regret was that she hadn’t attended more yard sales. A collectible doll repairer of some knowledge and experience; Myra once ran a Doll “Hospital” in West Virginia; before her arthritis prevented her. Viewings will be at the Stauffer Funeral Home on Opossumtown Pike. Internment arrangements are Private. In Lieu of Flowers; friends may make donations to HHV ( Help Hospitalized Vets with model Kits ), The Salvation Army, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
