Mrs. Marion B. McClain, 84, of Frederick, MD passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at her home. Born September 22, 1929 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Mary Grace Rothenhoefer and George Biggs. Her husband, Merritt E. McClain preceded her in death in 2005. She is survived by four step daughters, Bunny Smith, Carolyn See and husband Rick, Diane Kerry and husband John, and Beverly Markel and husband Vincent; three Step-Sons, Rodney and wife Colette, Steven McClain, and Butch Comer; 21 Grandchildren; 16 Great-Grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Robert, Donald, and Richard Biggs. She was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren; Past Associate Member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church in Lake Worth, Fl., where she sang in the choir and served on the Board of Deacons; she is a past president and member of Gideon Auxiliary of Frederick. In 1949, Marion graduated from the Frederick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She served on the FMH Nurses Alumni Association and also served as Superintendent of Vindabona Nursing Home for many years. Family will receive friends at Stauffer Family Services, 1201 North Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701 on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 3-5 PM. A Funeral Service Celebrating Marion’s life will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Stauffer Family Services, 1201 North Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick East Camp of the Gideon’s International, PO Box 3215, Frederick, MD 21705.
