Mrs. Gene Fox

Mrs. Gene P. Fox, 90, of Thurmont, formerly of Sabillasville, died Friday, December 13, 2013 at St. Catherine's Nursing Center in Emmitsburg. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph J. Fox, whom she married on September 10, 1945.

Born April 5, 1923 in Sabillasville, she was the daughter of the late Roy C. and Nancy L. (Wade) Pryor.

A graduate of Thurmont High School in 1939, Mrs. Fox attended Waynesboro Business College. Prior to retiring in 1985, she worked at the Blue Ridge Summit office of First National Bank & Trust Co.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, having served as deacon and treasurer; National AARP; Thurmont Senior Citizens, and the Red Hat Society; Additionally, she was an auxiliary member of Waynesboro Hospital, Homewood Church and Hoffman Orphanage.

She is survived by three sons, Michael W. Fox of New Jersey; Charles Fox and wife, Joyce, of Sabillasville; and Greg Fox and wife Sheila, of Sabillasville; four grandchildren, Shawn and Chris Fox of Maryland, and  Amy Balinski and Ryan Fox of New Jersey; two step-grandchildren, Chris and Kim Brown; seven great-grandchildren; Rachel and Reese Fox of Maryland, Jonathan Hacen of Maryland, Matthew and Gaven Balinski of New Jersey, and Andrew and Allison Fox of New Jersey; and one step great-grandchild, Tyler Silverman.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Joseph J. Fox, Jr.; granddaughter, Kerry Lee Hacen; brothers, Richard and Wade Pryor; and a sister, Louise M. Frank.

Services will be private.
