Mrs. Betty Ridenour
January 14, 1928 — July 22, 2015
Mrs. Betty Lee Ridenour, 87, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Leon R. Ridenour.
Born January 14, 1928 in Brunswick, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Claude and Gertrude Lucas Carver.
Mrs. Ridenour was a member of Weller United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star in Thurmont. She was very active in church choir, playing piano and teaching Sunday School. In earlier years she was employed as a seamstress and upholster. She enjoyed caring for her family, flowers, bird watching and was an avid gardener.
She is survived by her children Judy Vona and husband James of Pasadena, and David Ridenour and wife Judy of Thurmont, her granddaughter Amy Vona Cooney and husband John of Portland, Oregon, great grandchildren Luke and Aidan Cooney and sister-in-law Marsha Ridenour of Ft. Myers, Florida. Special friends Karen and Rex Davis. She was preceded in death by her sons Mark Anthony Ridenour and Richard Ridenour, her brother Ras Carver and her sisters Mary Bingham and Lucy Myers.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, Monday, July 27, from 5-8:00 pm Funeral Services will be held at Weller United Methodist Church, 101 N. Altamont Avenue, Thurmont, Tuesday, July 28, at 11:00 am with Pastor Bob Kells officiating. Interment St. Mark's Cemetery, Petersville, MD
