Mrs. Joanne Snowden

April 21, 1951 — June 12, 2024

Frederick

Joanne Snowden, 73, went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2024. Joanne was born April 21, 1951, in Frederick, Maryland to Raymond L. Young and Madeline L. Scott Young. She graduated from Frederick High School and enjoyed her career at State Farm Insurance Company for many years until an early retirement due to illness.

Joanne loved spending time with her family and friends; her title of “Nanny” is a badge she wore proudly. She was an avid Washington Commanders fan, lover of sweets, and will be fondly remembered for her witty personality and humor.

Above all things, Joanne loved the Lord. She was a dedicated member of First Love International Ministries and a devoted follower of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. Her fighting strength and perseverance through adverse health occurrences was a testimony of her faith and trust in God.

Joanne is survived by her sister, Joyce Bryant (Ray), and brother, Donald Young (Barbara); stepchildren, Bonita Grice, Erica Randolph (Jerome), and Joel Snowden (Stephanie); four grandchildren, Jerica (Craig), Nikevia (Julian), Cherelle, and Joi; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and long-time friends, Lisa Rollins, Sherrie Rollins, Helen Smith, Marita Peters; and loving caretaker, Wendy Snowden.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, of 44 years, Calvin Eugene Snowden; son, Michael Bowie Jr.; siblings, Mary Dawson, Betty Jennings, Barbara Biscoe, Raymond Young Jr., James Young, and Stephen Young; grandson, James Grice Jr.; sisters-in-law, Sarah Boyd, Catherine Davis, Patsy Snowden, Josephine Snowden, and Shirley Snowden; and brothers-in-law, Willard Davis, Arthur Snowden Jr., James Snowden, and Russell Snowden.

A memorial service in her honor will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Hospice of Washington County. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at StaufferFuneralHome.com.
