Mrs. Janet Lee Chapman, 94, of Frederick, MD (formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio), died, Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles M. Chapman.
Born July 26, 1917 in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Norma Goetz Lucken.
Mrs. Chapman was a 75 year member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She volunteered for more than 25 years at the Cincinnati Zoo, and was a former member of the College Hill Presbyterian Church. Janet was an original member of the women’s support group of Cincinnati Reds National League baseball team called the “Rosie Reds”.
She is survived by two children Carol Harrigan and husband Patrick of Frederick and Marla Anderson and husband William J. of New Jersey, two grandchildren W. Scott Anderson and Charles M. Anderson, niece Nancy Luken and nephew Bradley Luken both of Ohio. She was preceded in death by a brother Charles W. Lucken.
A celebration of her life will be held at Sunrise Assisted Living, 990 Waterford Drive, Frederick, Maryland on Thursday, March 22, at 1:30 pm with Rev. Peter Della Santina, senior pastor at Neelsville Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory, to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens, 3400 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45220.
