Mr. David Emmanuel “Skipper” Misner, 73 of Thurmont, passed away in his home on Friday, December 2, 2022.
He was the husband of Penelope Marie “Penny” Misner, whom he married in 1970, and was the father of David William "Billy" Misner and Jason Phillip Misner.
Born October 21, 1949, in Thurmont, to the late Albert Misner and Pearl Brice Misner. Skipper was the proud owner of Ballfield Tavern in Emmitsburg and Thurmont Bar and Grill on Main Street in Thurmont, where he and his wife, Penny, served their beloved patrons for 30 years.
In addition to his wife, Penny, and son, Jason; Skipper is survived by his granddaughters, Kelsey and Lexie Misner, and Ella; his daughter-in-law, Rachel; his dear friend, Lucy; and his nieces and nephews. Skipper will also be missed by his beloved dog, Muffin, or as he called her, “Tuffy Muffy”.
Skipper was preceded in death by his son, Billy Misner; and siblings, Arthur, Patsy, ToJo, Linda, and Rachel.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street in Thurmont.
A celebration of Skipper's life journey will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Thurmont. Pastor Sally Joyner Giffin will officiate. Burial will be held at Blue Ridge Cemetery.
