Mr. Morgan Wardlaw Platt, 24, of New Market died on Thursday March 11, 2010.

Born on March 7, 1986 in Silver Spring he was the son of Philip K. Platt of New Market and Laura Duvall Chavies of Somerset, KY.

Morgan was a conservationalist , and a naturalist and guardian of the majestic Redwoods. He was a volunteer for the North Coast Earth First organization, he played an active role in tree sitting, taking part in protecting the California Redwoods from being harvested by logging companies.

He dedicated his life to preserving and protecting the earth, leaving his humble mark upon the earth, and it is here where he will return to, wrapped forever in a strong and sweet embrace, held for all eternity in the arms of mother earth.

Surviving in addition to his parents is a brother Lee D. Platt of New Market and a half sister Cassidy Chavies of Somerset, KY. Maternal Grandparents John B. Duvall and wife Peg of Florida and Betty Clark of WV. Uncles and aunt; Doran S. Platt III and wife Lillian of New Market, Lindsay Shimp and husband Clinton of NJ and Craig B. Duvall of WV. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Doran S. Platt Jr. and Elizabeth W. Platt.

Services: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, from 6-7:30pm on Friday March 19, where Memorial Services will begin at 7:30pm. The Reverend Timothy May will officiate. On Saturday March 20, the family will hold Memorial Services at 1:30 pm at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 14300 St. Thomas Church Road, Upper Marlboro, MD. 20772.

Interment will be private.
