Minh Nguyet Thi La

October 16, 1936 — October 29, 2016

Minh Nguyet Thi La, 80, of Frederick, MD, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born on October 16, 1936, in Saigon, Vietnam, Minh Nguyet departed from her war-torn country and immigrated to the U.S. with her husband, Francis Huan Pham and their children in 1975. She embraced the American Dream, determined that the rewards of her hard work will offer her children boundless opportunities: freedom of individuality, unhampered dreams of achievement, and access to education. In her altruistic expression, she cared for the elderly, the under-privileged, children, and animals alike, to make sure that they were loved and fed. She brought laughter through her jocose disposition; her sprightly smiles and her child-like playfulness touched those around her.

Minh Nguyet is survived by her children, Mai Loan Pham, Mai Storey, Mai Ahn Pham, and Ky Truong; grand-children, Phuong Ly, An Ly, Thao Ly,  Daniel Storey, Alyssa Storey, Kathryn Storey, Riley, Josmayre Soler, and Catherine Wen; and great-grandchildren, Sabrina Ly, Hieu Ly, and Zhi Ly.

“When you believe in someone, you profoundly increase their ability to have faith in themselves and achieve. When you love someone, you imprint on their heart something so powerful that it changes the trajectory of their life. When you do both, you set into motion a gift to the world…because those who are believed in and loved, understand the beauty of a legacy and the absolute duty of paying it forward. ~ Jason Versey
