Minerva I. DeWeese "Sis" "Minnie" of Thurmont, MD passed away on her 93rd birthday Wednesday, February 6, 2013 which was shared with her nephew Louis Haynes. She was the wife of the late P. Douglas DeWeese who preceded her in death in 1963.
Born on February 6, 1920 in Goodwill, WV she was the daughter of the late William and Ida Bryant Gearhart.
Mrs. DeWeese served in the United States Army from 1943-1946. She worked for G.E. as an assembler. Minerva was also a member of the Jehovah's Witness Congregation.
She is survived by her brothers J. Donald Haynes and wife Jean of Bluefield, WV and Roger C. Haynes and wife Linda of Thurmont; niece Lisa Oliver of Bluefield, WV and Judith Miller and husband James of Smithsburg, MD; nephew Louis Haynes and wife Sherri of Thurmont and Gregory Hypes of Alburn, NY; great nieces and nephews Konnar Jade Miller, Samantha Late, Jessica Late, McKenzie Haynes, Nikita James Miller and Wyatt Haynes.
She is preceded in death by her stepfather William Albert Haynes; brothers Clifton Gearhart and William Gearhart and niece Stephanie Dawn Haynes.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 1-2 PM where a memorial service will begin at 2 PM.
Interment will be private.
