Mrs. Mildred M. VanFleet, 87, of Jefferson, died on Saturday May 7, 2011, at Citizens Nursing Home, Frederick. She was the wife of the late Elmer J. VanFleet.
Born on August 11, 1923 in Beckley, WV. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Agnes Gruden Rice.
She was the former owner of Brookside Inn, Jefferson. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Petersville, a member of the Brunswick Eagles and Moose and the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company.
She enjoyed bingo, cards and all games. Most of all she enjoyed her time spent with family and friends.
Surviving are her children; James E. VanFleet and wife Diane of Frederick, Rosalie Woodward of Frederick and Paul C. VanFleet and wife May of Jefferson. Grandchildren; Diane Webb and husband Billy, Ronnie VanFleet and wife Tina, Jimmy VanFleet, Wayne Woodward and wife Debbie, Becky Woodward, Michael VanFleet and wife Dana and John VanFleet and wife Lisa. Also survived by numerous great grandchildren and devoted friend Doris Edwards of Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her son in law Kenny Woodward.
Visitation will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick, on Monday May 9, 2011 from 2-9pm where family will be present from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday May 10, 2:00pm at St. Mary’s Church Petersville,
4231 Catholic Church Road, Knoxville. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
