Mildred Taylor

Mildred D. (Smith) Taylor, 98, of Keedysville, Maryland passed from this life on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village in Boonsboro, Maryland.

Born on January 20, 1914 in Hagerstown, Maryland she was the daughter of the late George E. and Lela Myrtle (Doub) Smith. Her husband of 62 years, Ralph B. Taylor, Jr., preceded her in death in 2003.

Mildred was a 1932 graduate of the Boonsboro High School and she went on to attend the Columbia Business College in Washington, DC.

She was formerly an employee with Potomac Edison and at Fairchild. She was the Secretary of the R.B. Taylor Milk Transportation, Inc. and also handled the accounting for the water commission in Keedysville.

Mildred was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Keedysville.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith K. Kerns and husband James of Keedysville; two granddaughters, Janine A. Kerns of Hagerstown and Jacqueline R. Davis of Boonsboro; and two great-granddaughters, Lauren and Anna Kate Davis. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Pauline Mullendore.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
