Mildred Shoemaker
January 7, 1924 — February 14, 2019
Mildred C. Shoemaker , 95, of Frederick, Maryland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, MD. She was the wife of the late Wallace F. Shoemaker, Sr.
Born on January 7, 1924, in Olney, MD, she was the daughter of the late James M. Thompson and Margaret L. (Gates) Thompson.
Mildred was a longtime active member of Trinity UMC, Frederick. Mildred was a founding member of Citizens Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Samaritan Rebekah Lodge #51 and the American legion of Damascus. After 20 plus years, Mildred retired from N.I.H. where she worked as a Lab Technician. Throughout the years she enjoyed dancing, playing BINGO, playing cards, bowling, the country life at their place in WV, and most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by daughter, Mickey Shoemaker of Thurmont, son, Wallace F. Shoemaker, Jr. and wife Jessie of Frederick, daughter, Dinah L. Chapman and husband Robert of Rocky Ridge; grandchildren Raymond Walker, III and wife Lisa, Sandy Smoak and husband John, Michael Shoemaker, Jennifer McKinney, Amy Morgan and husband Bill, Christina Keefer and husband Rob and Amanda Chapman and fiancé Scott; eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; brother, George M. Thompson and wife Alice.
She is preceded in death by her sisters Sarah, Margaret, Bessie and Nettie and brothers William, Clarence, Edward, Walter, Frank, Earl, Washington, Roy, Jack and Bob and great grandson Curtis Jeffery Walker.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Fred), 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.
A celebration of Mildred's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, February 18, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 703 W Patrick Street in Frederick, MD.
Interment will be at Clustered Spires Cemetery in Frederick, MD.
