Mildred Shire
November 16, 1919 — March 19, 2017
Mrs. Mildred Mary Stull Shire, 97, of Thurmont, MD passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at St. Joseph's Ministries. She was the wife of the late Howard Frederick Shire.
Born November 16, 1919 in Thurmont, MD she was the daughter of the late Wade H. and Mary Poole Stull.
Mildred was a longtime member of the Weller United Methodist Church, Thurmont. She was also a member of the Edwin Creeger Post #168, American Legion Auxiliary, Homemakers of Thurmont, Thurmont Senior Citizens and for many years helped with Meals on Wheels in the Thurmont area.
She is survived by her children Howard F. Shire, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Towson, Deanna L. Shuff of Sabillasville and Randolph A. Shire and wife Cindy of Thurmont; 8 grandchildren Brian Shire, Kevin Shuff, Julie Wantz, Tisha L. Miller, Kerri M. Arnold, Alex Ortiz, David Ortiz and Becky Cottrell; 17 great-grandchildren , 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Curtis Shuff and great-great granddaughter Armony Williams and her sisters Blanche Henning, Frances Shimanski and Betty Frushour and brothers Stanley Stull and Charles Stull.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 23 at 10AM.
Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery.
