Mildred Shank

Mildred Lorraine (Clark) Shank, 79, of Boonsboro, Maryland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown after suffering a long battle of complications resulting from a stroke.

Born on February 1, 1932 in Beaver Creek, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Oneida (Campbell) Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Shank on August 10, 1996.

She was a 1949 graduate of Boonsboro High School.

Mildred was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Rohrersville.

She retired from Londontowne Manufacturing in Boonsboro and worked at Southeastern Washington County Senior Center until July 2009.

Mildred was a member of the American Legion Auxillary Unit 10 in Boonsboro, the Manor Church and the Boonsboro Senior Citizens, and was a past member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Boonsboro Fire and Rescue Company. She also was a volunteer at the VA Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia and at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

Mildred enjoyed bingo, crafting, collecting cookbooks, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie K. Shank of Fairplay and Cindy L. and her husband Lloyd Smith of Hagerstown; three sons, Gary L. Shank and his wife Linda of Boonsboro, Darrell L. Shank and his wife Tina of Knoxville, and Kevin R. Shank and his wife Vikki of Hagerstown; and her sister Geraldine Crilly of Hagerstown. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Willis Clark.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Locust Grove.

Friends may visit beginning at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the funeral home where the family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
