Mildred R. (Shorty) Kave

Mildred (Shorty) R. Kave, 86, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at her home in Boonsboro, MD. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Nathaniel "Buddy" Kave for 64 years.

Born on August 8, 1937 in Washington County, MD she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Mildred A. (Morgan) Boyer. 

Shorty worked for the Hagerstown Shoe Factory and London Fog, Boonsboro. She was a Brownie troop leader, past president of Boonsboro Legion Post 10 Auxiliary, past member of the Redmen Pocohantus, member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and an associate member of Boonsboro Ambulance and Rescue Company. Shorty loved to read and garden. She and Buddy loved camping and eating crabs with family and friends. 

She is survived by her children, Kim Nally (Anthony) of Boonsboro and Douglas Kave (Shelly) of Mississippi; grandsons, Keith Overdorff (Erin) and Joshua Kave (Molli) and Blake Kave; great granddaughter, Olivia Overdorff. She will also be missed by special friends, Diane, Joanie and Natalie. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert T. Boyer. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland.

A celebration of Shorty's life will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Rev. Karl Muhlbach will officiate. Interment will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery.
