Mildred F. Moats Younker Burkett, 81, of Mercersburg Road, Greencastle, Pa. died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Washington County Hospital.
Born January 31, 1927 in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Mary E. Moats.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd W. Younker in 1948 and by her second husband, Allen T. "Joe" Burkett in 1996.
Mildred and her second husband, Joe, owned and operated E & J Service Station in Cearfoss.
She is survived by son, Lloyd S. Younker of Faber, Va.; grandchildren, Roger W. Younker, Jr. and wife, Jill, of Winchester, Va., C. Todd Younker and wife, Diane, of Matthews, N.C., Laura J. Younker of Jacksonville, N.C. and Kelly A. Zimmerman and husband, Jeff, of Boonsboro; great-grandchildren, Davis and Evan Younker and Jillian Zimmerman; sister, Imogene H. Mowen of Hagerstown; brother, John F. Moats of Hagerstown; and sister, Wilma J. Kennedy of Greencastle; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Roger W. Younker, Sr.; two sisters, Evangeline M. Johnson and Shirley L. Dreisbach; two brothers, Donald I. Moats and Wilbur D. Moats; and two nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, P.A. in Boonsboro which will open at noon.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 8 at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Martin officiating.
Burial will be in the Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Hancock at noon on Monday.
